We can do more with more! This was one of many key messages that resonated from our training day on June 5 with Advantage Non-profit Leadership Conference. Laurie and Vance spent the day attending a provocative virtual conference from her kitchen table on the farm. The theme of this conference was Storytelling for Impact, and MASH has so many great stories to tell! We added a new tool to our communications toolkit called SUCCES(S) – it’s a set of principles for communicating your organization’s message. S for Simple, U for Unique, C for concrete, C for credible, E for Emotion and S for Story. We also learned about Layering as a choice creating way to present information that allows the reader to go as deep into your story as they wish.
We also tagged out for an Organics Recovery Working Group virtual meeting hosted by the Coast Waste Management Association. Dr. John Paul presented his new video about the District of Kitimat’s new composting facility and it looks awesome!
It was a great day and I appreciate that our organization values staff development and invests in our training.
